PHOTOS: Best friends. On the beach in Asbury Park, New Jersey (Masi).
A week at home is not enough.
After most of a year, not much has changed.
Everything has changed.
The deer paths that I used to run with Josie are overgrown, unused. There is a new understanding between me and my brother. We shared a moment, siblings with so much in common but lives in tangent, rather than parallel. Real appreciation for the limited time I have left to cherish my parents.
A few hours with those friends I love and who have shaped me: Tricia, Shannon, Adam, Laura. There are others, but not enough time. You know who you are. We have chosen one another and the bonds are as deep as blood.
I didn't think so, but others do...
I have changed.
Apparently trail running and abundant Texas sunshine are good for my body. And business progress is good for my spirit. My beard seems to have acquired a few suspiciously light colored hairs — but in trade for increased resolve and broadened perspectives in both life & love. Worthwhile.
And really, isn't love the only thing that truly matters?
