COMPOSITE (above): Element™ machined aircraft aluminum neck as seen in CAD screen captures. Many significant improvements to the comfort & functionality of the neck. Advanced low-friction string guidance system. Neck profile ergonomic improvements. High visibility fret position marker layout. All new guitars will ship with Element™ V.2.0.
I am working on developments that will result in expanded options for clients. My goal is to provide a series of branching choices allowing you to pick features optimized to your specific playing style, genre needs, and — most importantly — your (human) body.
You can expect a few surprises...including an alternate Element™ machined aluminum guitar neck with headstock-mounted tuning technology.
Not everyone is psychologically equipped to accept body-mounted tuning within the traditional guitar community. That trend will continue to grow. But I have yet to meet a player whose left hand doesn't automatically semi-consciously drift toward the end of the neck to make pitch adjustments.
I should note, with headstock tuning, there are some useful things a skilled designer can achieve related to guitar body ergonomics...
PHOTO (below): Prototype Metal genre-specific DiMarzio guitar pickups. Developed from a series of conversations with Metal players, including Misha Mansoor, these pickups are intended to perform though large venue PA systems. Instant response. Tight, controlled lows, at high decibel levels.
PHOTOS (below): Killick! checks out 'Luna' prototype 6-string guitar, built from figured crotch American Walnut with Swamp Ash. It required some engineering, but 'Luna' is a fully chambered semi-hollowbody instrument yet also sculpted and incredibly ergonomic. A series of organic shapes honeycomb the body structure, ported through stealth sound holes. Acoustic response is immediate, visceral, revealing deep warm rich bass plus additional detail and 'air' in the highs. Note the refined proprietary neck bolt system.
