I'm sorry to do this to you. Really, I am.
Did I mention Skele is the first of many experiments where I just let my imagination run wild — without trying to please a client?

Really inspiring: both clearly precise in making and absolutely full of flavour, down to the tiniest particulars, such as the old money truss rod cover, or the tuning machines. Still, I wonder what the neck pickup is... it seems very interesting, most of all because of your references about not digging a hole in that part of the neck...

Awesome!I play almost exclusively on acoustic guitars but if I were to buy an electric then Skele would be the one, or perhaps the forthcoming Dove... or both! I love the thought and the love being put into your instruments Rick. I'm an avid reader of this site and elutherie, and I'm intrigued to see you build an acoustic incorporating ideas like the Neutral Tension Bridge. Respect from Melbourne, Australia!

Luke — I greatly appreciate your kind sentiments. Sorry for the delay, as I've been playing carpenter in the new shop and ignoring my computer.
You will be excited to learn I am soon turning full attention to acoustic design. Some VERY interesting projects pending.
Stay tuned.

Thanks Rick, I look forward to seeing those!
One question about Skele however. I'm very interested to know how the combination of an extended frequency range pickup and a 19th fret placement for said pickup sounds? Pretty full I'm imagining.

Luke — it is my intention to make a video/recording of Skele to demonstrate tonal properties. Likely in early autumn (September) or so.
My impression is just as you've described. The 19th fret position is well suited to open string chords and bell-like single notes. I'm very much in love with the placement.
The pickup captures part of the sound, but runs into the same limitation all (conventional) magnetic guitar pickups seem to have — the instrument is producing sounds acoustically that are not reproduced adequately.
Working with Joe Rogowski (bbsailor) is opening this area of research. More on that as we progress.
