This is quite nifty. Jesse is self-building a headless fretless guitar, and dropped me an email to discuss.
Jesse's primarily a jeweler, fabricating original designs, so he's got a strong background in metal working. Check out his amazing Anax Imperator Machina. It will be interesting to learn how those influences shape his vision.
"I'm writing to thank you for the immense amount of inspiration I've received from reading all through your site. I truly appreciate innovation in guitars, cause let's face it, they have evolved very little in 50 years, on a large scale."I've recently begun the process of creating my own guitar after selling off half my guitar collection and wanted to share my concepts as they have been profoundly impacted by your own designs. I've also been looking to include titanium hardware, such as a bridge, neck support and headless tuner. I'd be curious to know what grade of titanium you find gives the best sound and strength, and your experiences with it in general, chances are I will design the pieces and have them machined.
"I just wanted to share my project with you, thinking it might be something you would appreciate. It's going to be a headless fretless 6 string guitar, with a fretboard that runs the length of the strings and a rear-mounted pickup system.
"Take care and I look forward to seeing more of your creations!"
