After quite a few days of fine sculptural work and hand sanding, Orchid has turned purple.
A mixture of blood and finely ground turquoise dust...
EDITOR'S NOTE: Um. I'm a little worried.
...pure tung oil.
The good stuff. Organic and sustainable. No thinners, solvents. Wipe on. Wipe off. Repeat until lustrous sheen. When we're done, the surface will feel like polished wood, and every nuance of the grain will contribute to visual and tactile harmony. In the photos below, we're about halfway to where we're going.
